One of our friends has a number of these starbucks metal tumblers with a really interestingly designed flip top lid. The only problem seems to be that the upper part (the flip top) that snaps to hold the lid closed, has a weak point that breaks after a bit of use. Typically, this happens right where.
One of our friends has a number of these starbucks metal tumblers with a really interestingly designed flip top lid. The only problem seems to be that the upper part (the flip top) that snaps to hold the lid closed, has a weak point that breaks after a bit of use. Typically, this happens right where the flip top snaps into the lower part of the lid. Rather than throw the lid away, we designed a replacement flip top swap out with the broken one. It doesn't seem like there are any replacement parts or lids like the original out there for sale, so we thought maybe this would help if others have similar issues with the lid (or maybe just make a fashion statement with a custom color flip top.). We have added some thickness to the design so hopefully it will hold up better than the original; however, working within the physical dimensions available, the design seems to have an inherent weak point with the snapping action of the flip top. We are including two flip tops in the order to hopefully give longer life to the lids. The removal of the original flip top and install of our replacement can be done easily without any tools. We have illustrated instructions that we will send out with the product to help. As far as compatibility goes, we are only aware of one style of metal tumbler like this, but it is possible that there are variations or different lids this flip top may not fit. The models we have tested are 20oz metal tumblers. The flip top lid measures just under 1.5" in width, and the tumbler lid diameter is about 2.75". Glad to provide any additional measurements or information to help ensure the flip top will fit your lid. For the material, we use PETG (similar to plastic used in water bottles). Our supplier is a US manufacturer that sources all US generated, recycled plastic (check out www.greengate3d.com). Aside from using recycled material, we like the PETG as it is stronger and more durable than other 3d printed plastics (like PLA). It weathers UV and moisture well and is not as brittle. That being said, this is a 3d printed part, and each one can come off the printer a little different. There are visible layer lines in the print, and we typically sand some of the supports off. Available in black. This product is a set of two flip top lids to replace part of the existing starbucks tumbler lids. This does not include the lid base, lower portion of the lid valve, or metal tumbler that are shown in the pictures.
