This Pot of food usually consists of meat and veg that is prepared outdoors over an open fire, low and slow.HOW TO PREPARE YOUR POTJIE POT FOR COOKINGTo prepare your Potjie pot for cooking, we recommend that you follow these easy to do steps: Wash the inside of your pot thoroughly with boiling water and a scouring pad and dry over a heat source . Coat the inside with roughly 2-3 table spoons of cooking oil and place your pot over hot coals until the oil begins to smoke. Then remove from heat source . Lastly using a paper towel, wipe the inside clean. Keep doing this until the paper towel wipes clean. Be careful when doing the above steps as the pot will be pretty hot, we recommend wearing some BBQ gloves.Your pot is now ready for cooking. The more you use it the better it becomes. After each use wash, dry and coat the inside with a little cooking oil (between 2-3 tea spoons). Store with the lid off in a dry place.
