Its sharp(ish) nose cuts through even hard ice cream, but unlike a knife it won’t go on through the carton and into your hand. (Don’t ask me how I know this). And unlike a knife there’s just the right size scoop to catch what you cut off. Ben and Jerry’s recommends using a sharp implement rather than a blunt scoop in order to avoid forming ice crystals which then degrade the ice cream.
