This foil wrap has silver foil on the outside, with a food-grade paper on the inside and is great for storing all types of cheeses. Each pack contains 100 sheets (approx.) of foil wrap, with each sheet measuring:
- 254mm x 254mm (10 square) - Small
- 400mm x 400mm (16 square) - Large
This wrap is best suited for aged cheeses such as Edam, Gouda and Cheddar, where the foil surface will help prevent moisture loss. The cheese should be wrapped with the foil surface outermost and the cheese touching the inner paper side.
Cheeses with a higher moisture content such as Brie, Camembert and washed-rind types, should not be wrapped until they are ready to consume. The foil surface lets very little air through, so the cheese should be inspected regularly (every few days) and re-wrapped to keep the cheese fresh.
The length of time you can store the cheese will depend on the type of cheese and the temperature that it is stored at. As a general rule of thumb, you will find drier, aged cheeses will keep for much longer than surface ripened/high moisture type cheeses.
